JOAN ROBERTS - BIOGRAPHY



Joan Roberts was born in Washington, D.C and raised in the suburb of McLean, Virginia.
She attended West Virginia University and American University majoring in drama and speech. 

Hired by WRC/NBC radio in Washington, D.C as a staff announcer and local radio personality
Joan quickly became one of the area’s most sought after voice-over talents. While filming
on location in Los Angeles she signed with an agent and relocated to California where she
began a successful acting career guest starring in numerous television shows and pilots.
She was cast as one of the stars of the CBS television series, "Pvt. Benjamin" and met
CBS network executive, Dwayne Hickman, former star of the classic television series, "The
Many Loves of Dobie Gillis". The couple were married two years later.

In addition to her busy voiceover and acting career, Joan began writing columns for various
magazines and newspapers, sold several T.V comedy scripts and co-authored with Dwayne Hickman
his critically acclaimed autobiography, "Forever Dobie…The Many Lives of Dwayne Hickman", Birch
Lane Press.

Along with her commercial and promo work Joan Roberts is one of the top female voice talents
in the area of political narration. In addition to numerous congressional, senate races and
political measures she has voiced the Presidential candidates' campaigns of 2008, 2012, 2016,
and 2020. Joan is currently busy working on the 2022 mid terms.

Joan and her family reside in Los Angeles.
